We are one of the UK’s leading archaeological and heritage charities, recognised for its high-quality research, fieldwork, and public engagement across Britain. While our work is rooted in the study of the past, we are firmly focused on the present and the future, shaping the profession by embracing new technologies and finding innovative ways to connect people with heritage.

We operate at the intersection of development, research and communities, supporting major infrastructure programmes alongside local and regional development projects. Our teams work collaboratively with national agencies and their contractors, major and regional house builders, local authorities, partners in local communities and the heritage sector. We ensure archaeological knowledge is rigorously recorded, actively shared and used to inform placemaking, learning, and public understanding. Public engagement is not an add-on to our work; it is central to our purpose and impact. We are values-driven, people-centred, and ambitious about the role archaeology can play in shaping contemporary decision-making and future places.

Oxford Archaeology is entering a period of significant opportunity and change. Demand for high-quality archaeological services has grown alongside major infrastructure investment, evolving planning and environmental policy, and increasing public interest in place, identity, and sustainability. At the same time, rapid advances in digital technology, data management, and communication are reshaping how knowledge is created, shared, and valued. This moment calls for leadership that can harness innovation, strengthen organisational resilience, and deepen engagement with diverse audiences to ensure Oxford Archaeology remains influential, financially sustainable, and publicly relevant in a changing world.
